Too hot for dogs!!!

What is with this weather this week?  I think temperatures were up to about 24 degrees today!

I was on flash duty today.  Poor Natalie works full days and is sometimes unable to get back at lunch time to walk Flash - come to think of it, it always seems to be on a Monday and Tuesday when I'm NOT working, am I missing something here MRS JONES!!!!!!!!

Anyway Flash is a moody old bitch and not in the female dog sense of the word!!!  She loves and adores her Jones family but she hates me and she hates Marley and she especially hates it when I turn up to walk to her!  When I let myself in she is always curled up in her bed like she's about 90 years old and just about manages to look up at me when I walk in, but will not even move an inch until I am shaking the lead above her head!  At this point she just about manages to haul her arse out to walk to the front door and reluctantly gets in my car, ignoring a hyper ventilating Marley sat in the back!!

So we get to the meadows and that's it, she's off - never to be seen again on our walk!!!  It is here that she goes completely deaf and does not know her name so I have learnt to WALK ON and let her follow at her own annoyingly slow pace!!!!!!

So anyway with the temperature and Marley's very annoying constant panting (Flash doesn't pant whats that all about?!!!) I decided it might be better to walk through the wooded area being lovely and shaded and, as I found out, with a lovely breeze running through it......

Sniffer dogs!!

Marley taking the lead!

Marley, never a stones throw from me!

And then Flash fricking miles away despite me caterwauling her name!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

So there we have it!  I am on Flash duty again next Tuesday.............WAIT A MINUTE JONES!!!!!!!!!!

It's been FIVE months!!!!!!

I can't believe how the time flies!!!  I have been so super busy having a life that I just haven't had a moment to think about my blog, but chatting to my lovely BF Natalie about her blog which is still going I thought I might give it another go!!!

There are few stories to tell about Marley these days so I thought perhaps I should just post some nice photos every now and then!  Natalie commented today how photogenic Marley is and she is absolutely right.................

So it is September and back to school time HOORAH.....

It's Bob's birthday at the end of the month and he really wants hamsters!  So we sourced a bargain of a cage on facebook and picked that up last week so while the boys were away at the weekend with their 'other parent' i decided to be a fabulous mummy and purchase 2 dear little chinese dwarf hamsters to surprise Bob when he got back.  Marley was thrilled......

What you can't see clearly on this photo was the very long string of drool hanging from his mouth!!!

And here's Steve and Alan..........

Please don't mention the size of their balls it is a very sensitive subject for me!!!!!!!!!

And finally dear old Poppy!  She is still with us living a very privileged cats life....

Black eye after a night out on the town!!!!!!!

Bathing in our indian summer sun!!

And there will have it that is us for now!  I think photos is the way to go so I will update more in the very near future!

It's Spring!!

Spring is here, woohoooooo!!

What a relief is has been to see the sun again these last few days and for the temperature to be in double figures!

This called for a celebratory walk in the park with our besties Belinda and Busta.........

This did however, cause Busta to suddenly develop "Limp Tail Syndrome" (yes this is an actual condition!!!) for no reason whatsoever!  So there he was happy as larry having a whale of a time with a very floppy tail!! Thankfully it seems to be on the mend today although still has a bit of a kink in the end of it!  Seriously though only Busta!!!!

So I have been at my wits end with Marley's shedding hair since we moved to this house.  He has been malting since the day we moved here and is showing no signs of stopping!  Now I know there are terrible things in the world such as war and famine etc. but Marley's shedding hair makes me want to cry!!!  I have wooden floors that I sweep or hoover every day and as soon as I have finished, his hair has covered the surface again!  When he walks he is like a christmas tree that sheds it's needles!!  I find his hair in my shoes, in the bath, all over the toilets, in my food, in the washing machine seriously the list goes on!!!

Anyway my dog walker recommended I get one of these..........

THE FURMINATOR!!

It's claim on the packaging is that it reduces shedding by 90%!!!!!  Imagine my excitement!!!!  So £35 later (discounted online from £42!!!), after one brushing session this was the result.....

EW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has GOT to make a difference to my floors if I do this to him every day!  I have done it today and already there is nowhere near as much hair coming off!  Poor dog will be bald by the time I have finished with him!

Anyway he had a treat today after we saw my friend Dawn where he originally came from, she gave him a bone that she got for him from the butchers!  So I put his bed outside in the sun for him and he lay there quite happily for a couple of hours.......

So enjoy the sun my friends, it is just so lovely and seems to put a smile on everyone's face!  And it will soon be summer..............

We're still alive!!!

HELLOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!  So it has been about 10 years since I last wrote and a lot has happened since then and none of it of the good, exciting variety!

I have been constantly ill since my last post and am currently deaf in one ear and about to cut it off!

We are desperately trying to move AGAIN, things have not worked out here which is a shame but I won't bore you with all the details!

Marley had his op and has recovered really well, but it has been a horrible horrible winter and therefore there are not many stories to tell about him!  Apart from him eating a sandwich the other day that I had made for Bobby's lunch, he swallowed it whole sandwich bag an' all!!!!!!

Will try and be on here a bit more regular now!!!

It's all about me!!!!!!!

Sometimes....it's all about me..........

ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I promised a while ago with Marley's lack of mischievousness in his old age that I would blog more about me, so here goes!

I have had a cold for FIVE weeks, yes FIVE weeks!  I have not been quiet about the fact that I have had a cold for FIVE weeks and today I gave in and went to the doctors because I am completely deaf in my left ear.  Seems I have a blocked tube between my nose and my ear which is causing fluid build up and so I now have a nasal spray to use and god willing, i mean seriously GOD WILLING, it will be better in a few days!!!!  In the meantime there will be lots of this...

and this..........

So to make myself feel better I spent TEN quid on a candle that smells of wild bluebells and peony's which is lovely and looks gorgeous next to my ribbon flowers very cleverly made by Natalie's niece Minnie....

Gorgeous!

I suppose I had better give Marley a mention before I go!  He is penciled in for the surgery on his leg next Monday providing the pre-authorisation comes through from the insurance company which fingers crossed it will!  I saw my friend Dawn this morning where Marley originally came from and she gave him a lovely butchers bone which had been in the freezer.  I gave it to him when I got home and I swear he lay in his bed with it for 3 hours!!!

Right I am off to see how many more people I can find to tell that I have had a cold for FIVE weeks!!!!!!

Return of the Ninja Squirrel!!

Hello!!!!!!!!!  It's been over a month since I was last here and whilst I have many things to catch up on I must start with a Peckham Ninja squirrel that is terrorising my sister!!!

My lovely sister Heather is a teacher in Peckham and lives in a really love flat on the top floor of a block in Peckham itself!  There is not much in the way of wildlife in Peckham but she has a lovely balcony with decking complete with chairs and various potted plants!  So imagine her surprise when she was confronted with this...........................

Let me introduce you to Leroy Jenkins, or Mister Jenkins to you and I!!! (named by Charlie)

So Heather first came across him on Saturday night sitting on the wall of her balcony.  She put an emergency call in to my Dad to ask "how the hell did he get up here?!".  Once he had stopped crying with laughter he explained to her that they are capable of climbing up drain pipes!  So there he sat eyeballing her for some time!  When she sent me the photo last night I asked her if he had made an appearance that day (Sunday) and she replied that the photo had been taken only 20 minutes previous, so it would seem he might be a regular visitor!

Of course my theory is that he is casing the joint and has a little "posse" waiting in the hood somewhere to pounce!!!!!

So back to us!!!!  To be brief we have moved house and are now enjoying the luxuries of heating and a dishwasher woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marley took a couple of weeks to settle in and in doing so my HORRIBLE neighbour next door set the dog warden on me about his barking while he tries to sleep in the day after his night shift.......................seriously don't get me started on this!  So after a long conversation with the dog warden who was very nice and not in the least bit judgmental she has closed the non-existent case!

The sad news is that Marley has torn the ligament in his other back leg!!!!!!!!  So i am just waiting for the insurance company to confirm that they will cover MORE surgery before I take him because without the insurance there is no way I can afford to get it done, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it!

So in the meantime I will leave you with a photo of a discovery I made a few weeks into living here, of a very cheeky Marley......

erm I don't think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're on the Move!!

I have 1001 things to be doing this evening (catching up with Corrie being the most important!) but I haven't blogged for so long and there is so much going on I could tell you about that I have decided to do a quick post.

So we are bidding Hazel Cottage farewell this Saturday 14th!  we are moving to a lovely 2 bed terrace down the road which has heating (something Hazel Cottage does not have), a dishwasher, good plumbing and privacy!!!  It's sad that I have fallen out of love with Hazel Cottage but to be honest I have been here for 4 years and not had many happy times here, in fact I can barely recall any, so despite it being my namesake the time has come to move on!

Marley is of course coming with us.....

As are Dotty and Poppy but poor old lady Maisie has gone to live with my Mum and Dad who live on a farm because I can't take her with me to the new house due to her incontinence problems!  In other words she's a bloody pisser!!!!  She is very happy there though and has the whole countryside to roam around in bless her!

So things are all change!  I have decided that the dynamics of my blog may need to change too.  The lovely Marley seems to be maturing and is doing less and less funny and mischievous things now so there is less to blog about him, so I am thinking that perhaps I will blog more about my life in general!  I love to write so it would be a shame to stop and the animals will still be with me so I can include them in but I will have to try and to do some interesting things with my life to blog about!

So TTFN by the time I write another post I will be in my lovely new house with a big smile on my face!

M lovely old lady Maisie - I will miss her!

It's hot, hot hot!!!

So my car registered a temperature of 38 degrees this afternoon!!!!!!!  I'm guessing on the outside it's more like 30 but OMG it feels like about 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor Marley, he is soooo hot, he is panting permanently (and that's not annoying much!!!!!) and loves coming out in the car for a drive just for the aircon!  And every time I turn around his water bowl is empty again!!!!!!!!

www.uncommondog.com

It doesn't seem to be bothering the kittens though!  Dotty very kindly brought in a half dead bird for them today, Ringo was like a ferrell cat I had to prise it off him to rescue it!  However Dotty has just returned with it and is now under Bobby's bed where I can't get to her, so I will have to deal with the left overs later!!!

Little Beauties!  Only a week to go till they can go woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep cool everyone!!!!!!

It is just me?......

Who has ridiculous animals...........................

Have you ever seen anything so ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!

Marley taking to the sofa which I had put outside to go to the dump!!!!!!!

The babies sleeping in the bottom of the ironing board cover!!!!!!!

I love my animals but I find them utterly exhausting!!!!!!!!!!  Dotty is making me go funny in the head I swear!  If she is shut out in the night, she cries outside the front door from 4am till I let her in around 7!  ALL my cats are let out through the front door, they then come round the back door, come in and go straight to the front door to be let out again (this actually makes me want to cry).  Maisie wee's on the landing carpet if she is in the house for more than 5 minutes and Poppy has started spraying since she was "done" although thank god only outside but WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And as for Marley, I feel quite sad that with his increasing age he is slightly less mischievous and I therefore have fewer stories to tell about him, but at the moment he could give Houdini a run for his money!  He is forever appearing out the front of the house and for a while I was baffled as to how he was escaping until i caught him the other day!

So there he was fast asleep on the INDOOR sofa and I was in the kitchen doing some ironing.  I saw him suddenly walk sleepily towards the back door and out into the garden so I stood back from the front room window to watch him!  He sauntered towards the end of the garden like a dog without a care in the world, casually put his front paws up on the fence and slowly hopped over it into next doors garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He seemed shocked that I had caught him and so far he hasn't done it again!  But seriously I can't watch him 24 hours a day and it is too hot at the moment to have the back door shut all the time!

GIVE ME STRENGTH!!!!

So as much as I love them all you have to have the patience of a saint to live with them!

Busta is in the wars at the moment too!  He has had an infection in his foot that had to be operated on and then he got stung in the eye by a wasp yesterday!!!!!!!!

ANIMALS - give me 10 kids anyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Busta's favourite position in long grass which is probably how he got something stuck in his foot!

Best buds!!

Meet Honey, Ringo and Tabitha

The kittens are almost 4 weeks old and they are absolutely thriving given their shaky start in life!!! So....

Here's Honey....

Named because of the beautiful ginger she has mixed in with her brown tabby markings!

This is Ringo....

The only boy - named because of the ring of tabby spots he has on his back!

And finally Tabitha....

Named because of her lovely dark tabby markings plus its my favourite name in the world!
Sorry Bobby and Charlie but if one of you had been a girl you would have been called Tabitha!!!

So there they are!  They are the funniest little things, I am pretty sure they were born premature they have big prem baby eyes and are like little pygmies!  They are very wobbly on their feet but love to play and fight with each other!

As for Marley he has finally had a clean bill of health from the surgeon!  His leg is all healed and he is allowed to have as much exercise as he will tolerate!  We went on a lovely woodland walk with Busta a few weeks ago during half term so I will leave you with some photos from then.....

This is the first year that they have both felt brave enough to venture into the water!

The big stick wasn't there when we got there, Busta and Marley were attempting to drag it into the water!

Leia, Bobby, Sienna and Charlie with Marley attempting to photo bomb!
